Madame X Book 1.1

a story of discovery

About the Book

 Who is Madame X?

When X starts a new job at a successful Washington, DC firm, her life takes an unexpected turn as she begins a passionate affair with her boss. While she falls deeper into a relationship she isn’t sure she wants, an unsettling experience with a stranger will change everything—uncovering buried desires and unfamiliar passions. The story of X is the story of one woman’s discovery of her sexuality. The beginning of a journey that many, if not every, woman can understand.

Madame X Book 1.1 is the first in a series which follows the story of one woman's sexual self-discovery. The novella explores the realities and complexities of how women engage with sex, intimacy, and power. Sometimes seductive, sometimes provocative, Madame X Book 1.1 is a window into that unspoken experience.

The Madame X novella is part of the #RespectHerSex campaign created by Heather M of the Femme Project. #RespectHerSex is focused on building safe, creative spaces for women to explore art, writing, and advocacy. We can only achieve equality when women control the narrative, politics, and agency surrounding their sex and sexuality.

About the Author

heather m

Heather M is a feminist, artist, and author as well as the principal voice behind the Femme Project, an art effort addressing themes of identity, sex and sexuality and equality. After carving out a career as a creative director and marketing consultant, she walked away from the corporate world in 2014 to start the Femme Project with the intent of creating art with a purpose. Since then, the work of the Femme Project has driven awareness and action surrounding women’s issues.

A Maryland native, she now resides in the mountains of Western Maryland, after time in the San Francisco Bay area when she began writing in earnest. A storyteller first, Heather has written and directed a short film, penned numerous essays, crafted works of fiction, and created visual art that has been featured in a number of exhibitions throughout the United States. She continues to create art, writing, and action that further the belief that women will only be truly equal when they own and control the narrative around their sex and sexuality.

“I cannot stop thinking about you,” she confessed.

It felt right and it felt natural to say, though she immediately regretted it. Even in this moment of near certainty, she felt unsure. She feared he may decide to pull back. End things before they started. Feeling a hint of desperation at the thought, she believed she needed him and couldn’t let him slip away. It was her hand that came forward touching his thigh. Her knee making contact with his as she leaned forward.
